Start with the stages, not guesswork
Before hiring anyone, map the stages an enquiry passes through: arrival, first response, qualification, quote, follow-up, confirmation and after-sales. Every stage needs an owner and a target.
When stages are clear, the process becomes measurable. When they are not, effort disappears into a black box and leaders are left guessing why service slips.
- Define service-level targets for first response and follow-up.
- Name an owner for every stage.
- Make the hand-offs between stages explicit.
Treat speed as a product feature
In travel, response time is one of the strongest signals of good service. A traveller shopping several providers will often choose whoever answers first and answers well.
Fast response is not about rushing — it is about having the routing, pricing and rules at hand so the first reply is useful.
Follow up with discipline
Most travel quotes are not declined — they are simply left. A disciplined follow-up routine, tracked in a CRM, recovers a meaningful share of that business at almost no extra acquisition cost.
